(Schwartz - continued:) "The World of Singing Crystals"... New Mystery Adventures is going in heavily for sciencefiction, R.F. Starzl's "World Tube Murders" was in the November issue. Nat Schachner's "Master of the Space Ray", was in the December number. D.D. Sharp was in the January edition.... Weird adds another artist to it's roster in the person of Virgil Finlay, of Rochester, N.Y., who illustrates several of the stories in the December issue....R.R. Winterbotham will reappear in Astounding with "The Psycho-Power Conquest". Donald Wandrei recently submitted a novelette, "Passenger Aboard" to Detective Fiction Weekly. A few weeks later he received an acceptance and check for this story from Argosy! The sale recently appeared in the latter magazine as "The Monster From Nowhere:... A new English author, W.F. Temple, will make his bow to Wonder's readers with a yarn titled "Another Chance", about a man who hits bumps in the time stream and bounces back into the past..... Mort Weisinger cops the February cover of Thrilling Mystery with "Torture Tower", a 1000 word story .... Clifton B. Kruse is slated for an appearance in the January Astounding with "Stranger From Formalaut", and again in February with "Don Kalz of the J.S.P." .... "The Mysterious Universe" adapted from James Jean's book of the same name, has been running at a London theatre as a play. Since Paul Ernst (full name, Paul Frederick Ernst) has his latest Doctor Satan story, "The Consuming Flame" in the November Weird under his own name, his other story in this issue, "The Way Home", was published under the pseudonym, Paul Frederick Stern, the last name being an anagram of Ernst ......Leo Morey will vacation it for 3 months in South America .... Raymond Z. Gallun is due again in Astounding with "Buried Moon"...After almost a year , Eando Binder returns to Wonder with a novelette "Paradox", in which the speed of light is once more exceeded. Story will appear under the changed title, "Beyond the Limit"....... Wallace West, who was formerly connected with the publicity dept.'s of Paramount and United Artists, is now on the Press Radio Bureau of the Columbia Broadcasting System. (Editor's note: This next paragraph was illegible in our copy, but the last sentences finished thus:) ........ to Astounding, Stanley G. Weinbaum and [Ralph ?] Milne Farley are now working on "The Dictator's Sister", which they claim is 'the most daring and original science fiction plot ever concocted'.... Bob Tucker, also known as Hoy Ping Pong, prominent and active science fiction fan, died recently. We shall miss his friendship. (Editor's note: This last, concerning Tucker was crossed over with black crayon, the page having already been printed when the affair was straightened out.) -The End- Merry Christmas
