the deadline for payment of dues. Art Widner has informed me that he will accept dues from any and all who send them in within 60 days of the NFF mailing (this was January 16th). Servicemen overseas, of course, will receive special consideration. So will civilians overseas. Members, please don't impose [[?]] kind-hearted secretary-Treasurer too much, though. Get your one dollar dues at once. During the past month, the Directorate has acted on the following measures (others are under consideration, but not enough replies have been received to warrant reporting results): Paul Spencer and James Whitman have been authorized to continue their investigations into the publishing of an anthology of the best fan writings. This committee is known as the Book-Com. Spencer is chairman and Whitman is treasurer. Preliminary plans call for a hard-covered book containing such material as that which appeared in SPACEWAYS and FANTASY FAN as well as other material. The funds would be raised after plans are sset, by advance subscription. The whole project to be sponsored by the N. F. F. F. Elsewhere in this issue of NFF, you will find a detailed report on a new service to fandom,-- the supplying of magazines and books at reduced rates. Director "Rusty" Hevelin is responsible for this and he and his project are worthy of highest commendation. Forrest J Ackerman has been appointed Official Chairman of the Archives Committee. The committee,for now, will be composed of Acky and any one he can press into service when he needs them. Anyone having anything to contribute to the archives of the N. N. F. F. should send them to Forry. The Board has voted that we shall have a legal advisor to the N. F. F. F. and my nomination was approved. I had nominated an individual; approached the individual offering the post. but received no reply. I then recalled my nomination and asked for a nomination from the Board. They, too, feel as I do, and the individual spoken of has again been nominated for the post. We trust that by next issue we can announce that he has accepted, and publish his name. Membership cards for all members, has been passed on by the Board with the qualification that they not be printed until an emblem has been decided on. Laureate Awards will present to the winners a certificate concerning the award and some other token (as yet not definitely decided upon by the Board. The January issue of the NATIONAL FANTASY FAN was
