all of you who passed through here and those who wil arrive that it continues to do a good job. When Ruth and I were organizing the Union we were basically looking for a platform to discuss issues here which the University would not discuss if it didn't have us here to remind them. Issues like land and fishing rights, the migrants plight, college recruitment, Chicano and Native American Studies, and the National's Policy which effect our people back home. we can also never forget about our people. I as a founding member of what has really become a real family here in Iowa, regret that I cannot attend your anniversary. I urge all, especially freshmen here, to continue to discuss all those issues which are important to us. Other issues may not seems as important to us but should be raised also. Issues like the environment, nuclear safety, the draft, women's equality and poor people's survival should be brought u[p also because your interests can help. And of course everyone should oppose the current policies in our government and redistribute programs. If you have any interest, you should come to the next meeting and decide the direction that the Center should take. The potential and the prospects for growth are tremendous. However, the student input is vital. Teresa Siena, Here are my initial thoughts - edit at will - Rusty
