2 Chicano Liberation +NOTHING CAN WITHSTAND THE FORCE OF AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME.+ [photo to right] CHICANOS Y INDIOS So here we are again, facing a new year with the problems of our past struggles at the University and else where still facing us. The purpose and function of the Chicano Indian-American Student Union has and will continue to be one of defiance to a system that has continued to ignore the needs of our people here at the University as well as the rest of the country. Therefore, we cannot afford to stop now, for if we do we will have not only defeated answers, but also the struggles being carried on elsewhere on behalf of our people; be it in Delano, Texas, or Wounded Knee. We must continue the struggle. WE WILL CONTINUE!! Hasta la Victoria Siempre Robherto Castillo Chairman, C.I.A.S.U. [hand drawing to left] CALL TO THE STRUGGLE The known Indian American population on campus is again very small this year. Hopefully through vigorous recruiting our numbers will grow. Last year there were 16 Native Americans and there was no real effort made to unite them. The Native American students who have been able to get together strongly desire an Indian Conference but need more support and help. An urgent call is directed to Native Americans to make your presence know. We need you. Call the Chicano-Indian Cultural center Phone; 353-4753 DARLENE WIND Vice-Chairperson for the CIASU
