CHALE CHALE (Chicano Association for Legal Education) is looking forward to hosting the 2nd Midwest Regional Conference of "La Raza National Law Students". The conference, which will be held on the 21 and 22 of November, 1975, seeks to unify and strengthen the Midwest Region. In addition to solidifying the regional organization the conference will seek to formulate and carry out academic and legal services programs that will provide legal training to students and improve legal services to the communities as well as to search for and secure finding sources for their region, the local chapters and their programs. On Friday, November 21, a benefit dance will go to the Muscatine Health Clinic so that the clinic will be able to continue to provide health care to migrant Chicanos in the Muscatine area. Similarly, on Saturday, November 22, a Chicano art exhibition will be held in the Student Union in conjuction with the conference and Chicano party will take place that evening at the Chicano House culminating the weekend activities. Everyone interested in law or curious about law in any way is invited to the conference and everyone interested in having a good time is invited to the benefit dance and the House gathering. Also the annual pre-law informational conference will be held the first or second week of November and it will be sponsored by CHALE and ALSA (black Law Students Association). You will be contacted by mail. [Cartoon text] and a...one...two...three..! WIN White ((Worker?)) spic greaser! Some Chicano Workers mojado, hambriento ilegal Mexican worker [emblem] INFORMACION This is to remind you that Rusty Barcelo has joined the Special Support Services staff. Her official title is Graduate Research Assistant, but her experience and position enable her to help resolve all sorts of problems. Al Rodriguez is also on the SSS staff. As Counselor for Academic Affairs Al can do such things as help locate a tutor for that jive class, suggest ways to improve your GPA or help you with any personal problem. Both Rusty and Al are at 207 Calvin Hall. In our next issue of EL LABERINTO we hope to bring you information about Teatro Zapatista: what they've been doing, some future plans and news from the latest MITO (Midwest Teatro Organization) meeting. Also, we hope to feature in forthcoming issues a specific activity of the Center. Finally, big news is just coming down about the "search" for the Assistant Director of Special Support Services and the creation of a group of Chicanos and Indians working on immediate problems and long-range plans of the Union. 4
