KACHINA DOLL- Page 16 Themes The Indian of the Southwest developed a full distinct culture long before the arrival of the Spanish Background Information Kachina dolls are symbols of the gods of the Indian people. They are usually handmade and are considered sacred representatives of a particular god. Kachina dolls are used in ceremonies of the pueblo. The Indian people revere and "feed" them the fumes of food and drink. Each pueblo has several Kachina dolls that are cared for.
