UFW FLAG - Page 24 Themes Farmworkers have been able to achieve unity and better conditions through unionizing. The modern Chicano's origin lies in Mexico, though he has developed a distinct culture in the United States. Background Information The United Farm Workers' flag has a black eagle ina white circle on a red background. The Aztec eagle was chosen to represent the UFW since most of the farmworkers are of Mexican origin. There are many farmworkers in New Mexico most of whom are of Mexican origin.
