Background Information New Mexico, for many reasons, has several scientific laboratories. In the southern part of the state, in White Sands, the first atomic bomb was exploded. Los Alamos as the center of nuclear research for years. Currently, Los Alamos and Sandia Laboratories are involved in solar energy research also. Many people, especially scientists, predict that this will be the energy of the future, The drawing also represents a Chicano scientist. That is, there is no occupation which a Chicano cannot enter if he chooses to. See "Rocket Ship", page 26 for further information.
