Page 34 THE ALCHEMlST had stopped its run for the evening two hours ago Mr. Wiggins had a considerable walk before him, he lives in another part of the city. He declined Martin's offer to stay the night, and after Lew had walked a considerable distance with him, likewise declined his offer to walk the rest of the way, on the grounds that Martin would also be in dire need of sleep. The following day Lew and I spent the entire afternoon running off the final pages. That evening Hunt, who works for a living, and so could not be with us much of the time, came over and the three of us had an orgy of folding pages, separating, and composing them and stapling the assembled copies. We spent the next afternoon typing names and addresses on form wrappers, rolling copies of "AI" in them and gluing them. Then Lew took them to the Post Office. So, after a month of mad scramble they were in the mail. The rest was in the lap of the gods. The friendly and enthusiastic reception given the first issue of "Al” proved that it was well worth the effort. Our grateful thanks for the loyal support of the fans, and to Olon Wiggins, for keeping the embryonic Alchemist afloat. We are now the proud owners of a mimeograph, via the pay—when-you-catch-me plan, and given sufficient support, both monetary and material, "Al" should remain a more or less permanent institution. And now, to quote one of our fans, until the next time, we remain "Alchemistlyours" The Chicon Depends on YOU!!!
