Page 70 THE ALCHEMIST JOE FORTIER: I was a little worried yesterday when I sudden-thought: "Where is Al? But all of my worries were over and I was quite happy to find good 'ol Al waiting for me at the mail-box this afternoon. You had a very nice cover and I enjoyed it very much. I certainly like Hunt. That titling is attractive -- going to keep it? Coming to the contents page, I am disappointed to find it unattractive and mussy. Your editorial was average, but outstanding in the fact that is WAS an editorial and not a glorified ad for the next issue or a summary of various letters you've received and so on. Paul's Projector rate a mere four from me. It was all right, but I'm afraid my good pal 4e has been busy lately. Spencer's "Carnivorous Tree" gets the same. (4) It was written in a style comparable to a grammar shcool student. "The Poll to End Poll's" really shouldn't be rated for it's just a message. An Experiment In Alchemy was fine. (7) Jokes belong in a class to themselves, so--(1) Terra 2000 and mine I will rate together to conceal my egotism. (7) The Way To More Science Fiction Fans was grand. (8) Book Review was fine,-- (7) but let me correct you. This is the elventh in the Mars Books for the two Venus books are rated as being included in that series. "Collector Corner" is good. (6) Now to lay me mitts on the poems. Just look at the ratings and figure it out for yourself: Warner -- 8; Exum -- 9; Widner -- 7; Smith -- 10!!; Sneider -- 6. The Retort Bubbles was fine this issue, especially so for a beginner. I grant you a huge EIGHT. In my letter, I menat to say: "and when copies become so poor, why not do them over again?" Back cover (faint again) gets me for TEN! ! ! (Well, that's all fellows, whether the next RB is this big is up to U. If you want it, yell and enclose and intresting letter. Bye now-------l e w))
