PAGE FOUR FANTASY NEWS ------------------------------------------------ SCIENTIFILMS by Mario Racic Jr . . . . . . . . . . . . World Pictures Corp. will distribute J. Huxley’s “MONKEY INTO MAN”. Screen Romances for Aug. contains scenes and story of WIZARD OF OZ. Old stfilms facts:FRANKENSTEIN was filmed by Edison Pictures in 1910. H.Rider Haggard’s “SHE”, was made Thanhauser Films in 1911. Three different OZ films were made in 1914-15. E.A.Poe’s [?] RAVEN was made by Eclair Films in 1912. PIT & PENDULUM in 1913, and his TELLTALE HeART by Griffith-Mutual in 1914 as THE AVENGING CONSCIENCE. George Melies, (whose TRIP TO THE MOON I have seen five times) also made other fantasy films, such as: CONQUEST OF THE POLE, (old mostrous giant devours people); AN IMPOSSIBLE VOYAGE, and THE ENCHANTED LAKE. Rene Clair, (maker of CRAZY RAY, THE GHOST GOES WEST) in 1924 made LE FANTOME DU MO ULIN-ROUGE, ------story about a soul, which becomes separated from its body. . . ____________________ FANAMAG REVIEW …………………………….. SPACEWAYS Vol 1 – No 7 – Aug 1939 Spaceways hits high standard of interest with well balanced Aug. number. Farsaci has article of considerable interest.
