February, 1941. SUN SPOTS Page 11. [[underline]]OUR MARTIAN OBSERVER SAYS[[end underline]] By Joseph M. Lewandowski,Jr. Number 1. Golden City, mars---Kaor, friends, which means Greetings in martian. And now, here's all the news from Mars, and the Solar System. The whole city turned out en masse today to give a royal reception and a hearty welcome to those adventurers of the Solar System, the saviours of Mars, Captain Buck Rogers, Lieutenant Wilma Deering, and Dr. Huer, M.P., S.C.,D.V., etc., ad infinitum. King Analdo, ruler of the Golden People, was on hand with his entire court and a specguard of honor. The trio, it will be remembered, saved the Golden People from extinction at the hands of the Tiger Men of Mars during their infamous uprising a few years ago. Thus the royal reception they received. The trio plans to stay a fortnight and then proceed to their tour of the system. Right now they are busy receiving old friends of theirs. It is rumored that the Captain is a special envoy of the Eartg Government, with the purpose of forming new interplanetary treaties. The old status quo of the Mars-Venus-Earth-Astroids-Jovian Mooss Allianse, and the Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus-Neptune-Pluto Entente, having come to an end recently because of the lapsing treaties, and also because of the discovery of intelligent beings on Mercury. (Discovery made by Curtis Newten, or Captain Future as he is more popularly known and his trio of futuremen.) If a new balance isnot soon effected, it will go hard with interplanetary relations. . . . . Popular heresay has it that the Martian Tiger Men have secretly allied themselves with the Space Pirates, those buccaneers who inhabit the Rings of Saturn and have many times requested recignition as a planetary or a satellitarian people. this alliance, if true, is directly in defiance of an edict put forth by the Council of Five, rulers of the Solar System. The Five are, at present, the president of Earth, King Analdo of Mars, Grakj of Saturn, Mlakv of Neptune, and Blano of Jupiter and her satellites. But their term expires next month. so the peoples of the system will have to elect new representatives. It is to be hoped that the next Council will be as evenly divided:--two from each entente and one elected from a combination of the two ( that is, Blano of Jupiter represents Jupiter and her Moons; Jupiter is on the Outer Planets Entente, and her Moons in the Inner Planets Allience). What effect the possible Tiger Men-Space pirates tie up, and the entrance of Mercury into politics will have, is impossible to forecast. Is that why Captain rogers is touring the System? many well informed circles are inclined to believe so. Also what of the demand by the unrepresented Planets for an increase in the Council? The five are meeting today to decide whether the next Council shall consist of five or seven members. . . . .Akor, signing of f. . . . .
