PAGE (2) THE OLDEST WEEKLY IN STF FANDOM FANTASY - NEWS [double line] EDITORIAL by JAMES V. TAURASI This edition of FANTASY-NEWS is being mailed out before the other issue of FN, because of the news-value of the front page. We aim to scoop the fan world with this issue, and prove that FANTASY-NEWS is still in there hitting on all six. Issues 141,142,143,144 & 145 are about ready and will be mailed out within a week. Issue 147 will be out on time next week and FANTASY-NEWS will be on time here-after. The slight delay and mixup was due to Will Sykora's job that kept him busy overtime most of the time, with little time to do anything, let alone a week newspaper. Due to this your present editor took over the job of editing and mimeoing FANTASY NEWS till Will Sykora's job lets up enough for him to take over again. Will Sykora IS STILL the publisher of FANTASY-NEWS. So all money etc must be still mailed to him NEWS can be mailed either to him or the editor. Remember the old saying: The manuscripts to the editor, money to the publisher. Plans are now being worked out where NEW FANDOM will again be more active. We plan to release the news as soon as final arrangements are finished. News comes in from Campbell that E.E. Smith has promised to mail in the sequel to THE GRAY LENSMAN early in May of this year. Smith has also a series running in COMET, the first of which will be in the JULY issue. Would you like to see a quarterly published by FAMOUS FANTASTIC MYSTERIES? If so write in to the editor and state your ideas. There is a very good chance of this going over. GOODMAN of MARVEL STORIES is in the Army! Boy the stf field is sure being picked dry if this keeps up. FINLAY'S portfolio of 8 drawings has been published by Munsey. A review of them in our next issue. They are excellent. SPIT-FIRE will be a new comic magazine out in a few days, with a fantasy strip by COMETEER John Giunta. The editor [end of two-column format] [handwritten] H.P. Lovecraft; Frank R. Paul; Sam Moskowitz; Thos. S. Gardner; John Giunta.[/handwritten The lineup above proved a good selling point for THE 4th ANNIVERSARY ISSUE OF COSMIC TALES, the first printing of 40 copies sold out in one week, but we forsaw this and saved the stencil. The second printing of 50 copies is all but sold out. Only about 20 copies remain to be sold. There will be no other printing, because the July issue is now being mimeographed. So if you want the 4th Ann. Issue. ORDER NOW. 10¢ A COPY APRIL-MAY-JUNE Cosmic Tales the queen of fan fiction 16 pages mimeographed. 10¢ APRIL-MAY-JUNE issue. JAMES V. TAURASI, 137-07 32 Ave FLUSHING, NEW YORK [pic of woman holding sign, which says:] ONLY 20 Copies LEFT
