October 5, 1940 SUN SPOTS Page 16 "OUR SPIES TELL US:" TREMAINE'S NEW MAGAZINE TO BE CALLED "THE COMET" Rumors from hither and thither have it that F. Orlin Tremaine's new Science Fiction magazine will be titled "The Comet" Best wishes Orlin; and lets have some good fan-features, FANTASTIC ADVENTURES SUSPENDED!! Reports from Chicago have it that Ziff-Devis have definitely suspended their second attempt at a Science Fiction mag, "Fantastic Adventures". The magazine might appear once or twice more, depending on the amount of material stored up. Even if you do see it on the stands again, it is definitely finished!! TWS TOTTERING??? Rumors floating around have it that Thrilling Wonder Stories may go bi-monthly any time now. Whats the devil's come over Science Fiction, anyway? At any rate we hope TWS does not go back to the bi-monthly days!! PLOTKIN GOING TO FLORIDA FOR WINTER; Our dear Co-Editor Roy Plotkin is going south at the end of September and will not return till June 1941, what we gonna do?He was the only one who could spell. If anyone around Westwood, has a lot of money, can spell, and can type would like to become e co-editor till Plotkin's return, please notify us at 31 Bogert PI. DAVID VERN LEAVES AMAZING STORIES: Several weeks ago, David Vern, Ziff-Davis's N.Y. editor was removed. In fact he was fired. With this Ziff-Davis closed their New York office, and stuck entirely to their Chicago home!! S-F, or at least Z-D, seems to be in a bad way!! BULLETMAN, BATMAN, AND SEVERAL OTHER FAMOUS COMICS WRITTEN BY WELL-KNOWN S-F AUTHORS!! Rumors have it that these above mentioned Comics and several others, equally well know are written by several of the top-flight Science Fiction authors. However the names will not be revealed at present!! 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 If any of you readers would like to become one of our spies, write up your scoop, or news story, and send it in, to 31 Bogert Place, Westwood, N.J, 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 If any of the above scoops are not authentic, Sun Spots will be glad to retract any statement, providing the complainant can give just proof.
