December 1940 SUN SPOTS Page 3 WHY MAKE AN ISSUE OF IT Once again I am the one to tell about the issue in general. I guess it will always fall my lot as Plotkin is in Fla.and so he's out,and de la Ree always wants to tell you all the important news so I'm left. In this issue we start several new features. One is a page for reader's letters.Another is that great epic of worlds,Death on Other Planets,by me.Still another is the colored paper, which ought to make the mag. colorfull if nothing else. Well reading from the bottom to top er sumpunn we have They're Off. the story written around the cover (but not on the front page dope) by Mr.de la Ree,who also drew the cover.Next a psychological dity about doodles by Mr. Wetzel, also drawn by de la Ree.Then comes Destiny Inc.,a time travel story voicing the theories of Mr.Laichez.And last but not least (maybe I'm wrong)Death on other Planets, the article about the back cover written and drawn by Mr(me)Gaetz. When your editors finished the last issue of SSp they said, "That is the last of the big issues ." Then came the mail.Eye sereing letters about the newarkon[?], good bad and indifferent stories and articles, and just plane stuff .All in all we had six pages of printable material left over. As for the typing and spelling mistakes all the pag es with the exception of this one and the little DEATH article belong to Delly. Maybe you noticed the spaces after all my g's,well that's the typewriter and it'l get fixed. Say! you guys who send in pictures will you kindly send in a story to go with it,and anyone writing a story and thinks he or a friend of his is a good enough artist to draw illustrations to g o with the story just send them in and if we have room we will be glad to use them. Watch for our February issue. Why you ask? Well, that will be our first anniversary, and we are hoping to celebrate it by an extra large issue, 30 pages or more. Now to accomplish this, we will need the help of all our readers. We would appreciate ads, subscriptions, and especially good material, such as intresting articles, short stories, and how about several of you fans writing the Way I See It? If we can get your cooperation on all these points, the SUN SPOTS anniversary issue will go over with a bang. If not, it will just go over with a small pop! We've give you three super issues in a row now, and we think it is only fair that you send us some material, not only for our anniversary issue, but for all the others too. This will help us an auwful lot, and we fervently hope you will help us in the above mentioned ways. Why haven't we heard from more of you readers. It's always the same half dozen or so who write. After all, many times myself and my co-editors have pointed out, this is your magazine, tell us what you want, and please tell us what you think of what we've printed. In the future, we will try to give the largest amount of pages, and we hope near as good material, as any other fan magzine in the country.Since our birth in Feb. '40, we have always had the lowest price of most any magazine considering the number of pages given. Well its goom-by for another month now...RG....
