his theory, Time is a tree. If anyone went back in time and met inhabitants of that time, he would start a new branch asd[[?]] as far as his own time was concerned, it was non-existant. Thus when Brad was discovered, which had never happened in his own time world, as it was not recorded, he would start a new branch and his hopes of going home and of stoping Mark from his major project would be nil. If this once happened he could go back to 3440, but it would not be the same one he came from. His only hope was to get lose before he stoped and reverse the controls. He worked as fast as possible and was beginning to get results when he felt the vibrations cease, and the door opened.

Six months later Brad was putting the finishing touches on his new time machine, the one which he hoped to return to his own time-world in. In return for the help of his new world of 1942; the materials he needed for his new machine,he had given them, the people of this new world, as many of the inventions of his advanced time as he thought was wise. He hoped that the period of wars which had almost wiped out this world would be stoped because of them. Now he was ready to try his new theory, which would send him back to Mark.

Mark was worried. After Brad had left, with the only machine, he had tried to build a new one, but he couldn't follow the plans, with the result that he was now called a faker, and was being looked upon with suspicion by friends of Brad Sayers, who were not sure of his so called 'Trip for a complete rest, for about a year'; the year being almost up. Mark had expected by this time to have enough money, to stop any investigation, that might arise. As it was, however, mark was almost desperate.

suddenly, while he was working the lab late one night, a shadowy form appeared; and as he watched, a time machine wavered, then stopped, and Brad steped out!
"How did you get here?"Exclaimed Welfare,"I thought---."
"Yes", said Brad,"You thought I was gone for good, but you were wrong. When I arribed in 1942, where the people by the way were not savages, I knew that I could not go ahead to 3440. Finally, about six months ago, I found the answer; if I went back to 1900 without stoping, I would be on the tree of time again, and [[underline]]then[[end underline][ if I went to 3440 there was a good chance of my returning to my old time world especially as I lived this one 27 years, and it had much more influence on me. I rebuilt the time machine, and here I am!", he finished with an icy sneer.

Half an hour later, the solar Police came and got a very much battered Mark Welfare, and as Mark was led out of the building, Brad returned to his lab, this time with out fear of being rayed in the back; and made plans for a [[underline]]new[[end underline]] DESTINY INC!
