Conventions Science Fiction Writers Take Notice!! Looking Ahead (Concluded from Page 1, col. 1) ventions. This group must of necessity represent all fans especially the organized. A National Congress made up of democratically-elected delegates from all science fiction clubs will represent all organized fans, and in addition will have enough money and influence to make any future convention a success. Such a representative body can also insure that no future Convention will be controlled by any anti-democratic group. Fans should bring this matter up for discussion at the next meeting of their club. The Committee organizing the 1940 Convention should consider placing this subject on the agenda of the Convention. [In middle of page, under Science Fiction Writers Take Notice!! column, is a hand drawn picture with WHO IS HE? typed underneath.] He unquestionably was never a fan A joint archaeological expedition of National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian Institution found him on the western edge of the State of Tabasco in Mexico. He is one of a group of five stone carvings, each 8 feet high and 20 feet in circumference. (-----Press Release. March 25, 1940.) -0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0- is owned by Jack Robins of 51 Humboldt St. Brooklyn, N. Y. It is issued about once a week, usually as a supplement to SFW. All material appearing in this issue, except for the illustrations, was done by Jack Robins. Criticisms, comments and suggestions are quite welcome. Some question has arisen as to the purpose of this publication. Let it be recorded that this magazine is issued, first, as a hobby, secondly, for purposes of experimentation, thirdly, for its educational and entertainment value, and lastly, to get fans to consciously consider broad issues of the day. LOOKING AHEAD is in favor of the Chicago Convention of 1940, of David A. Kyle’s idea of a National Congress, and of related ideas.
