QUEENS SFL BULLETIN unofficial organ of the QUEENS SCIENCE FICTION LEAGUE. VOLUME 1 NUMBER 2 MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1941 WHOLE NUMBER 2 - AND A SWELL TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!! Yessir! A swell time was had by all! And was I flabbergasted!!! I had no idea that we would all enjoy ourselves , with a poor attendance, no celebrities, just a few old-time films, some coffee and cake, and a real old-fashioned round-table discussion. Maybe the coffee and cake just loosened our tongues and the rest followed quite naturally. Anyway, here we are back again Folks, and Fran and I want to thank each and everyone of you that came to the meeting for helping us get the old club going. And believe me we have got it going again, as you can easily see by reading the opposite column. Mario, our Acting Sec'y-Treas. was kind enough to supply me with a copy of the minutes of our last meeting on Feb. 16th, and here they are: An emergency meeting of the Queens Science Fiction League was called to order on February 16 at 4:30 P.M. The purpose of the meeting was to reorganize the chapter after the resignation of the Director, Sec'y-Treasurer, and Librarian. Present at the meeting were Mario Racic, Jr., Frances Sykora, Sam Moskowitz, Leonard Grunbery, A. Hendriksen, M. Claasen, Bob Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Will Sykora, Jimmy Taurasi, Kay Brickman, Helen Brickman. Will Sykora acted as Temporary Chairman, and Mario was appointed to act as Temporary Secretary-Treasurer. Since a quorum of the entire chapter(P. 2,C.1) NEXT MEETING MARCH 2nd HOT DIGGITY DOG!!! Did we get a swell meeting room or did we! Yes, sure, certainly---and how! It is more convenient to the IRT, BMT, and Indepent Subways than Will's mother's house, yet you use the same stations as before. Only this time from the Independent you just walk toward Broadway, turn around the corner to the left, walk nearly to the end of the block, without crossing the street, and there you are. You IRT and BMT travelers will also find it more convenient. It cuts nearly three blocks off your walk of "nine short blocks" yet you go in the same direction but you stay on the South side of Broadway. The room is on the second floor of a small tavern, it is almost twice as large as the larger room at Bohemian Hall, it is provided with small tables, and can be used for our Social, BUT it costs only $2.00, the same as we were being charged at Bohemian Hall just before we were given the old razz matazz. AND if we only loosen up a bit, and imbibe a few beers at the bar once in a while after a meeting instead of staying upstairs and not spending a penny, we will be welcome there perennially. As a matter of fact, the proprietor already has us booked permanently on a monthly basis!(P2C2)
