Page Two QUEENS SFL BULLETIN Well, well, here we are again. The QUEENS SFL BULLETIN is published once again by Mr. and Mrs. William S. Sykora at P.O. Box 84, Elmont, N.Y. who are mailing it out to all members and friends of the Queens Science Fiction League, whose addresses they know. SUPPORT OUR QUEENS CHAPTER S.F.L.! Cont'd from First Page: was not present, no official business could be conducted, but the following actions were voted as binding upon the members present. A motion to collect dues for the emergency meeting was carried. Total dues collected was $1.10. After an absence of almost a year, James V. Taurasi was accepted as a new member (yes-and he paid his dues for the meeting!) Discussions on the resignation of Hyman Tiger, Director, and Scott Feldman, Sec'y-Treasurer, were tabled until the following meeting. The telephoned resignation of Bob Studley, Librarian, was also tabled. Bob resigned because he has obtained work which takes up all his time on Sundays. Will, as Acting Chairman, gave a brief resume of the history of the Queens Chapter from its founding by Jimmy Taurasi, the advent of the Futurians, the change of name to the Greater New York SFL, the break-up, and the reorganization as the present Queens SFL under certain rules put out by Mr. Leo Margulies, Director of STANDARD Publications, and explaining why the action was taken at the last meeting which resulted in the break-up of the meeting. Will apologized for his actions in the matter. A discussion on the subject of possible unwelcome guests whose presence might become objectionable to some members, resulted in a motion by Leonard Grunbery as follows: "If at an time, any member has any objection to some visitor, he shall file a private protest with the secretary, who shall request the visitor in question to leave Cont'd from Page 1, Col. 2: "Of course, I was taking things somewhat into my own hands in renting this room," says Will,"but perhaps after our members see it, they will like it so much better than the other rooms we have had that they will be glad to accept". In any case we can always reject the room by the usual majority vote, if necessary, and find another. We have several that would do, though not quite as nicely as this one, and, of course, we might be able to find others even better.. Any how, our next meeting will be just like our last, except possibly for the refreshments and we really hope that Scott and Hyman will be with us this time, so that we can straighten out the treasury. Our film will be "Dracula", plus at least one short subject. LEO MARGULIES HAS PROMISED TO COME AND MAKE A STATEMENT! So let's go, folks, and make this meeting our best, to date. Cont'd from Col. 1: because his presence has been objected to. If the visitor refuses to leave, he shall be offerred the alternative of a ballot on his admission or ejection following the usual procedure for acceptance of candidates for membership, to be taken as the immediate next order of business." This motion was carried. Next in order were the motion pictures. Shown were "Flying Elephants" with Laurel and Hardy, "Alice's Mysterious Mystery" a cartoon, and "The Last Performance" with Conrad Veidt. Open discussion continued around the refreshment table, where coffee and cake were to be had, until 9:30 P.M. The next meeting will be held at 3:00 P.M. SHARP, at the Tavern corner 38th St and Broadway, second floor, entrance through the bar. Come by IRT or BMT and get off at BROADWAY, ASTORIA. On INDEPENDENT get off at STEINWAY STREET. PLEASE COME EARLY. We would like to get started at 3:00 P.M. as we used to. The meeting will positively be called at 3:00 P.M.
