A COSMIC PUBLICATION FANTASY-NEWS THE WEEKLY SCIENCE FICTION NEWSPAPER Volume I, Number 6 -o- Sunday July 31, 1938 -o- 3 issues for 10c RAYMOND VON HOUTEN RESIGNS AS MANAGER-SECRETARY OF SFAA (Special to FN) Raymond Van Houten has resigned his post as Manager-Secretary of the Science Fiction Advancement Association, not because of the cessation of his wishes to advance stf., but due to the apparent mental attitude of some of the members of his organization. It seems that his leadership was not considered the best, and he was getting less and less support. So, on July 25, he formally announced to the SFAA his resignation, and hoped that a leader perhaps more worthy would be found. He is, it must be understood, still a member of the SFAA and will still be active as such, but not in a leading capacity. Mr. R.A. Squires, who has not yet accepted, of 1745 Kenneth Rd., Glendale, Calif, was appointed by Mr. Van Houten as temporary Mgr-Sect'y until an election can be completed. Any member of this organization who has aspirations to the vacant office should get in touch with Mr. Squires and nominate himself. SFA AGAIN CHANGES HEADQUARTERS ADDRESS A letter arrived today stating that the Science Fiction Association has changed its headquarters address to: 23, FARLEY ROAD SOUTH NORWOOD LONDON, S.E. 25 ENGLAND. All future business should be addressed thru the new address OF INTEREST TO YOU CORNER There is a character in the current issue of OPERATOR #5 called RICHARD WILSON. He's an Indian. AS WE GO TO PRESS by The Editor (July 30, 1938) Since this column has usually taken the place of an Editorial, We figure that this would be a good place to announce something that's been in the back of our mind since this paper was started. With either the next issue of the issue after we plan to publish free with certain issues of Fantasy news, a small stf "fiction" magazine called SPACE [LINES?] INC. It is another of those single character mags and will feature stories of WILL POWER. It will be published most irregular, whenever we have the time and material. This fall Dale Hart and us plan to issue an F.A.P.A. mag. The material will be by Dale Hart and the Hectoing by us. It will contain a 8 pages small size. Just picked up a 1928 issue of Clues containing cover and inside illustrations by WESSO Also inside drawings by DOLD. The second issue of MARVEL will hit the stands next week.
