EN GARDE . . The new covers are nice, Jack. We are certainly lucky to have Fandom's premier artist living with us. Trouble is, we tend to take too much advantage of your kindness. No wonder you said "NO!" a while back.. . Tanner's article on rocks interesting; but then. Tanner himself is so interesting.. . Forgotten Fantasies continues goofy. FAN-TODS . . We needed Dr. Gardner's article to slow down our enthusiastic anticipation of the Plastic marvels to come. . . I begin to incline more and more to the Manager-idea myself, norm. It has a lot of good points. Frankly, I over-looked that possibility entirely when I was writing that original article, although I have studied the matter quite a bit, but more as a relating to cities and states.. . Yesterday's 10,000 Years continues to merit all of Fandom's column honors. THE SOUTHERN STAR . . Harry Warner certainly deserves a big vote of thanks for doing such a fine job for the boys, under such handicaps.. . Mein Camp also deserves this year's fanfiction prize, to my notion. However, the historian made one small error -- not important, however I was not captured -- I was killed. MAILING AS A WHOLE . . Well up to standard, and still the best reading bargain extant. RATION You may say ration To rhyme with nation; Or you may say ration To rhyme with passion; It means the same whichever way you say -- "All we have is lamb today!" A PRAYER Give us, O God, one hour of peace; From the war and strife, a short release, To dream of things that used to be We ask this prayer, dear Lord, of Thee. WAR War is hell So ring the bell, We want Peace A new life-lease. JONNE EVANS Th' Youn' Foo. If we can get some decent photo-stencil materials, you will already have seen that beautiful Widenbeck heading on the cover, and a Widenbeck pic as well; if they are not there, I'm still hoping to be able to present them some day -- he has them all drawn for me. -4-
