Muttering savagely about springs, guns, and people who were so blind as not to see one hundred and sixty pounds of man, he clasped one of Sanders' legs to his bosom with the result of a struggling mass of arms, legs, and various other parts of anatomy which finally resolved into two seperate entities who glared at each other with murderous ferocity in their eyes. Dich Sanders spoke first. "Just for that, you lug, I've a notion to let you stay here and do guard duty for Lieutenant Croston for the rest of your life." Matthews scoffed, "Just as if you could help it!" "That's what you think." Sanders pulled himself up on the bunk and sat there rolling a cigarette. "The Old Man's just given me a special assignment to catch some drug smugglers." And he told the fact of the robbery. "We got to pack our duds, buckle on our guns and zip." A rejuvenated Jack and an ambitious Dick piloted the ship from the Interplanetary Patrol deck. The trip was long and monotonous. At the end of a week they were within thirty hours of Io.
