A doctor patched his broken head, and accidentally gave him a terrible power! Written by L.Ron Hubbard, There will be three novelettes in this issue; ORBIT XXIII-H. When technology advances beyond the vision of the makers of outdated treaties, trouble starts, by Robert Willey; DOUBLE! DOUBLE!, a biologist most-extraordinary invents an animal that's double ended, trouble. A sound example of what happens when a science goes cockeyed! written by Eddin Clark; THE TRAPPER, a tale of an ancient scientist who set his traps for men, and set his traps in Time! Throughout all ages, all places, from the pen of Arthur J. Burke. Four short stories come next: TREASURE ASTEROID, she was the clinging vine type, she clung like a leech, with a predilection to trouble. Which she gathered in large quantities for ace-pilot Drury Bannion to harvest, by Manly Wade Wellman; XI-2-200, the robot will have a vast advantage over man, he will be emotionless. But, will he? Must he? Is intelligent necessarily without understanding? Written by Ray Cummings IMPULSE by Eric Frank Russell and THE ROBOTS RETURN by Robert Moore Williams. This issue of a Astounding will contain the usual departments. The cover will be painted by C.R. THOMPSON (And a good cover it is). Inside illustrations will be by Dold, Orban (Who does the Doc Savage illustrations), Sheenman, Thompson and Wasso. THIS WEEK'S FAN MAGAZINES The only fan publications, this week was THE SCIENCE-FICTION NEWSLETTER containing the regular items. THE MOVIE CORNER by Mario Racic, Jr. Here is a chance for the local fans to see some of the old stifims that they missed. Those that would like to see DRACULAR, may it July 25 & 26 at 181st Street & St. Nick. Ave. THE ETERNAL MASK, will be at the Gaiety in Times Square all week beginning July 22nd. MAN WHO COULD WORK MIRACLES, July 24 & 25 at 2nd Avenue & 79th St. WHITE ZOMBIE, a 1932 revival maybe seeing a July 24 & 25 at 72nd Street, between 1st & 2nd Avenue. Also playing this weekend are: THE RETURN OF PETER GRIMM, and NON-STOP NEW YORK, also LOST HORIZON, but, it will be too late to see these when you read this. (Editors Notes: Due to the 2 day delay in getting out this issue, some of the above mentioned films will have already been shown.
