The Nucleus Editor's Page Greetings fans! Well, here is the first issue of The Comet. Do you like it? I hope so. Please let me know what's wrong and what's right about it. Sit down and write me a letter, a nice long one, or even a post card is okay. Please rate the contents in percent, 100% is perfect. Take special note of the story, Voyage Via Verisimilitude which I think is one of the best amateur fantasy stores I have have ever read. Also say if you like the titles of articles and stories typewritten or in color like this issue. At the present The Comet has two needs that only you readers can supply. One is material; ideas for cartoon cover art, articles, good fiction, humor, and contest stories. The second need, one I hate to mention, is money. You know, of course, that paper, stamps, and everything costs. So will someone please send in a life subscription? If I get two life subscribers or money equal to that, the next issue of The Comet will be mimeod with hectographed drawings. If for some reason The Comet should discontinue publications all advance money will be returned. Senders of large amounts of money will get receipts. In this issue you will no doubt notice a lot of mistakes. Well, this is my first experience with a hectograph and I've had nothing but trouble from the start. And, too, I've had a bad cold and had to type between sneezes and wheezes. Do you realize the difference between the hectographing on this page from that of the others? This is being done last and in a better way. Oh. yes, another thing I need is advertisements. They're very reasonable. 25 cents per quarter page, 50 cents a half page, 75 cents for a full page, and $1.40 for a two page spread. All adds done very beautifully in four or five colors. Accompanied with this issue you will find a lose sheet of paper, which I ask you kindly to fill out and send back to me. Also enclose photo if you have one. Any special department or feature you want, please tell me. Next issue I guarantee that The Comet will be at least 100% better. Better hectographing, maybe mimeo, better artwork, stories, articles, everything. One more thing. Join the Illini Fantasy Fictioneers, help put over the World Science Fiction Convention! Until next issue; adios, amigos! Editor-- Advisor-- Next issue out March 1st-15th Subscription rates: 10 cents for 1 issue; 3 for 25 cents; 6 for 45 cents; $4.50 for a life subscription.
