PAGE TWO JANUARY, 1946 THE RIDER will require several good articles, at least two regular columnists, enough art-work for at least two or three issues, and-----advance subscriptions. I have the time and the desire needed to produce such a magazine if there is a desire for it, but I will need help. Any comments or offers? Those who are interested enough to send material are promised that it will not be allowed to "die" in my file. If nothing sufficient comes of the idea all material will be quickly returned or passed on to someone else. No subscriptions are sought now, but who would be interested when and if I can be sure that at least three or four issues will appear? Laney, Tucker, and a few others have been campaigning lately against the high prices being charged for s-f and fantasy magazines and books. I am strongly behind any person or publication helping to keep these prices down within the reach of most of us who are interested in collecting. In line with that policy, I have taken an active step to help the situation. Time being rather plentiful the last few months has enabled me to scout around and buy quite a lot of magazines. I am now ready to offer them at fair and reasonable prices to any member of the NFFF interested in getting items for his or her own collection. every attempt will be made to prevent their being sold to anyone who will try to profiteer on them. Just let me know what you need and what it is worth to you; I should be able to help you. How many of you are interested in saving money on the new books as they appear? If a sufficient number are interested enough to write and tell me approximately how many books per year they can be expected to buy, a savings plan suggested by a correspondent of mine seems to have possibilities. Getting the jump on Speer's scrapbook, how many of you saw the Mauldin pic with the fellow pointing out over an empty desert as he says, "That was the capitol in 1951. Congress was debating a salary raise for itself when the bomb struck."? If you haven't seen "The Enchanged Forest" yet, don't pass it up because of the reputation of its makers. being a Producers Roles singing Corporation picture has not prevented this from being a fairly enjoyable hour hour so of fantasy. Though there are parts that "drag" a little, the fantasy element is present through most of the picture, and the cinecolor sonic and animal photography is some of the best this writer has seen in a longtime. Some of you will get this issue of THE RIDER are not now members of the National Fantasy Fan Federation. Why not check up to see if you should be? Membership offers several ways to increase the pleasure to be derived from your hobby, and more new ideas will be brought out during the coming year. The NFFF has become an increasingly active group and its usefulness to each of us grows with the growth in membership. Think it over. Poll: What is your date of birth? That is all until I find out if you want more. Howzaboutit?
