When we asked Manly Wade Wellman, the famous professional author, to send us something for the first issue of FAN-ATIC we received the following letter: "Dear Bieling:(is that the way to spell it?) ((no, it's not. Beling is the way)) Most proffesional writers, asked to contribute to fan magazines, dig up motheaten old duds. I've sold all my old duds, and here's something new. About the time you said you were starting your paper, I was starting a story. Here's a copy of the first thousand words. Maybe your readers will be interested in wondering how it will end. I myself don't know. I haven't finished it yet. Watch for this one in some pro magazine or other. Best, Manly Wade Wellman."
