July, 1945 PSFS NEWS Page 9 * * * * * * * * * * * * Texas Cherub...Plenty of frogs and minnows in the water--and tadpoles too--to claim the the attention of certain members....Did Jean Bogert get a surprise on the bus? And how ! She bumped her shoulder against the window, and what happened? The whole window went out. Not broken, understand, but the frame, window--everything--just went, and no more window...Ask Dee Conant why Ossie Train is number one on his rat list....Loretta sure did enjoy the water, even though she wasn't in very far...Earl was missing for a while in the afternoon--it seems that he had been imbibing a few glasses of suds. Just to cool off, of course... The girls were all a lot of sissies. They were afraid of the water--didn't like the looks of all that green plant life growing there and floating on top of the water. Then those little frogs and tadpoles, too.....Earl didn't go in the water--no bathing suit. But Joe, Al, Dee and Ossie went in and said the water was fine.....Vivian and Cynnie put their bathing suits on and sunned themselves....The swings took a beating, too.....After returning to Philly, Al and Phyllis Pepper, Jean and Cynnie Bogert and Ossie went into a little Chinese restaurant...You know how much they give you to eat in those places, don't you? Well, it all got polished off pretty thoroughly. Rusty is still out there in the Mohave desert, in California....Milton Rothman is now in Naples, Italy. Naples is much easier on him than Paris was--not so much to do. That makes four countries for Milty.....Jack O'Day is still in Germany, He says that the rumors going the rounds now have it that his outfit may be back in the States in September or October. Hope so!.....Johnny Newton and Jack Agnew were only one mile apart, and did not know of it till one week after Agnew's outfit moved out! That was a tough break. They may meet each other yet, though. There's still a good chance....Johnny Baltadonis hasn't been heard from for some time, but at last reports he was still in the Aleutians--and how he hates those Aleutians ! ..... Pappy Madle is still down there in Alabama, where it is nice and warm.... No reports yet on whether or not Lex Phillips and Joe Fortier had contacted each other...Paul Skeeters will be driving his folks daffy, at the rate he has been sending books home to California for his collection.....Jim Stearns became a member of the PSFS a couple of weeks back, and at the meeting just the other night we had still another new member, Norman Adler. Norman is an artist, and it is quite possible that you will be seeing some of his work in the NEWS. That now gives us the bright prospect of presenting the work of two new artists ! Yes, the outlook gets brighter all the time for the PSFS !....Milty has met French fan Georges Gallet, in Marseilles. You know, there is a lot of discussion going on now about whether or not Gallet was a collaborationist. But Gallet has an excellent war record as an officer in the French Army before and during the blitz that knocked out France in 1940, fought in the great battle at Dunkirk, and was a prisoner of war for a time.....Well, that's all for this time...More coming.. _ /-_ / -_ /-_ /-_ /-_ /-_ /- GARDEN OF FEAR The latest paper covered pocket sized volume is "The Garden of Fear and Others" by Robert E. Howard. Published by none other than William Crawford, and the cover is by LASFL's Alva Rogers. Price is 25 cents.
