He was killed Tri-Planet assassins just after the he had made
A successful raid on a freighter.  And the child that she had borne
Was taken from her for daring to carry on his work.  Forlorn,

Bereft, she yet carried on the fight, and won it, in the end;
But she'd lost her taste for living.  She prayed for the gods to send
Her to oblivion - vainly.  So she took up the work again
And quietly waited for time to ease the awful, searing pain.

In time she learn ed to laugh again, but her happiest moments came
In helping her husbands people.  In letters of deathless flame
Is writ her heroic history; her memory endures
Whenever men love valor, as long as space travel lures.

In space she spent her lifetime, in space she met her end,
And to the depths of space was her body comitted.  Then
She was mourned long and sincerely, for Sal had been quite a gal,
And spacemen still gather 'round to hear the saga of Satellite Sal.
