still not put it down that way, but would inaa report say "John Jones is charging two dollars for this magazine which no one else sells for over fifty cents." It would then be up to the fans to draw their own conclusions. Similarly, if someone did'nt get proper service from John Jones and complains to the BBB, the bureau would investigateand, if Jones cooperated, the report would reead comething like this; "Jones has had[[?]] a few/ several/ numerous complaints of poor service but all of them have settled without any dissatisfaction on either side." If John Jones refused to cooperate the report might read; "Jones has had a few/..etc. When approached by the bureau on the subject he was uncooperative. And so forth. Of course if Jones made about fifty fans complain, even though all were satisfied in the end, it would'nt look good on Jones' record, but still the bureau would [[illustration]] draw no conclusions. The same proceedure would be observed for fan zine publishers. Enough of theorizing. The trick is to get the thing going. The first thing we must do is get the committee organized. Rick Sneary, you are an office- holder in the NFFF ans the FAPA are'nt you? How about getting these clubs to cooperate? And all the rest of you fans, how about seeing what your clubs can do? If a club decides to join the p project let them announce it in DAWN. In this way we will know just where we stand ansand may be able to get something done. Sincerely, Evan H. Even if the rumor abuot VOM is true, you h have a swell mag. Hope you can keep Here is a subject I'd like to mention. Perhaps you have read my letter in TNFF suggesting tat the NFFF take over the job of selecting the yearly Fan convention site. The reeason being that only a handfull of fans, mostly from the same locale as the convention, have all the say in choosing the next year's location. This has bee pointed out as unfair for years .Now take this for example; Portland wants to be the oonvention there in 1950. But it won'nt be able to send more than two or three of it's members to Cincinnati, thus the Ohio and Ky. fans will decide where the next one will be. Now with the NFFF doing the polling of its membership to select the site, every one will have an equal vote .As anyone can join the NFFF, anyone can vote. It would also be fairer to the convention groups as it would then have equal opertuity. Each group wanting the Con could be given equal space in thr 00, and given equal opertunity to tell what thet had to offer. And do away with any sneeking in a aplication the last minute so that the opposision can't be formed .Each group[[?]] could canpain at the convention as now, but the members would go home to think about it and then vote... There would akso be the advantage of the doing away with the often objected to Convention Society. A group with out past or future and hardly a repasentative of fandom . The same group as a officeal Convention Committee and backing of a national club. A club that has admittedly had it's badyears, but one which you must admit is picking up again in the last six months. Of course any move of this ki would have to be done with the full cooperation of present e vention sites. We would not want two official conventions for the same year. That is why I'm boosting the Portland bid, Don Da approves of this plan. Washington has shown interest in a vareatio The NOSFS has not said. I'd like to get your reaction. I know the plan can't be perfect, so lets iron out the bugs. R.G. White shows either his newness to fandom or his lack of understanding of people. As I'm sure most old fans know I write the best I can. I have always had athma and had to do all my school worik at home.
