LIVERPOOL SECRETARY'S REPORT on MEETING There was a gratifying number of enthusiasts present at the August meeting of the Branch, and a good deal of useful work was accomplished in consequence. The Officers for the year having been already selected at the previous "Foundation" meeting, Mr. L.J. Johnson, our President, took the chair and business commenced without delay. The thorny question of subscriptions was taken first and after some discussion the Branch sub. was fixed at 5/- p.a. or 1/3 quarterly; exclusive, of course, of the usual sub. to the B.F.A. Having disposed of this opinion was canvassed regarding the frequency of meetings. It was decided to hold them fortnightly on Fridays (although other nights may be tried in an effort to find that most suitable to the majority of the members). Next, Mr. F.D. Wilson suggested that members could call upon persons in their own districts who have evinced any interest in Science-Fiction, with the very laudable intention of "bringing 'em back alive" as active members. Then the formation of the Branch Library came up for discussion and the charge for loans of all kinds of S-F Literature was fixed at a flat rate of 2d. per copy, a fortnight being the period allowed for reading. Every organization requires an official "organ" of some kind and the Branch is very lucky in having two enthusiasts in Messrs. Burke & Mellwain, who are always experts in this line and have consented to act as joint Editors of the "Satellite", as the Branch journal will be called. By this time everyone was agog to hear the highlight of the evening, the reading of Mr. E.I. Gabrielson's "Tax Plus". This was convincingly delivered by Mr. Johnson and impressed those present very favourably, most of the members classing it as quite
