TYM TOPICS WILLIAM VAN OPPEN: (referring to Jack Speer's letter in Tympany #10) Easy money? Come and get it! The $100 -- and another $100 -- are ready and waiting for you, Jack Speer! So is a copy of Fantasy Illustrated #2, also the original from which the "DOMINION SYSTEM" was taken . . . . Now, Jack, if you know anything at all about semantics, you can see that we will have no difficulties in defining "essential" and "oversimplified". Privately we may all have our own "opinions", but for public purposes we must adhere to the standard set up by the highest principle and aim of our Constitution: "The Promotion of the General Welfare, the Welfare of all the people". Thus, the question merely is: "essential for the General Welfare?" and "is it too simplified for describing and defining the General Welfare?" It will be difficult indeed to find proper judges to pass authoritatively on this manifestation of superhuman and futuristic wisdom. However, I am arranging a test case in order to get opinions from the Supreme Court USA on the merit and value of this plan to our present civilization from the constitutional point of view. # But do not let that worry you. In the first place, this is not a bet; you have nothing at stake and risk nothing. Secondly, I am just as eager as you to discover any faults and fallacies, any "lack of essentials" and "oversimplification" in this incredibly perfect plan, and I am most willing to pay you the above sums if you are able to point such faults out in a commonsense conference. Let us say, in which you can be accompanied and supported by such friends and authorities as you may care to bring. I AM WEIRD ENOUGH AND WILL SELL MY LARGE COLLECTION OF WEIRD TALES, INCLUDING RARE OLD ONES AND MANY COMPLETE SETS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. 1925 - Feb., May. 1926 - Feb., May (contains "The Silent Trees" by F. Owen; very good condition), July, Oct., Nov., Dec. I HAVE ALSO - True Mystic Science - Nov. 1938 (very first issue), Vol. 1, No. 1, and Apr. 1939, Vol. 2, No. 1.
