March 2, 1946 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Sat nite and a very quiet one. Hammy & I have been playing cribbage & now I'm writing that one swell fellow I love so much. I'm very homesick & lonely for you tonite. I shouldn't say things like that to make you feel worse should I? I should be cheering you up cuz heaven knows it's easier for me here than you over there. It has been a wonderful spring day out today. And it's still warm out tonite. We have the front door & back door open & somebody just came over & fixed the furnace. Much more heat & we'll really drowsy. But it's good
