Sept 26, 1944 Dear Folks, As you probably have guessed by the paper I am living in the field now. It is after dark but we have a big bon-fire going and several of us are writing letters. We got here this morning at 11:00 and set up our tents and got situated in general. It is really pretty nice. This afternoon we had classes on booby traps and mines. We also had some medium tanks to look over. I guess we work with them while we are out here. We have no idea of when we will be leaving this area or when we will be going in to camp. If all the nights were like this then it wouldn't be bad. Usually we aren't allowed to light a match at night but this is non-tactical so we can show lights. Yesterday morning we had review on the mortar, machinegun, rifle etc. In the after noon we got ready
