December 10, 1945 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Well, here it is my first day back in [illegible] & so far so good. Everybody was so glad to see me. They tell me they're so short of nurses. That could be why! I shouldn't have said that--isn't nice. Here is that wonderful fellow I love so very much tonight. I'm sorta tired. [illegible] & the [illegible] work & all. But I did enjoy it & we were busy so time really flew by. I was in surgery all day & [illegible]. I tried to pick instruments for [illegible]. Well, I'm learning slow. Very slow. I've gotten four letters from you darling. The latest was dated Nov 20th. It's always so good to hear from you. I look forward to your letters so very much. They mean all of everything [grand?] to me. It brings you as near to me as possible & thats what I want. [Over?] & over
