December 16, 1945 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Sun P.M. & is it cold. The fire place is going again. It was below zero all day yesterday but I haven't heard what it is today. Just plenty cold tho. We're going to get some weather stripping or something & fix the windows before very long. There's such a draft around them. Another wk. gone means close to time you'll be getting home. That I like very much. That is the only thing in the world I want. Over & over I tell you I love you & each time I do it means more. There aren't adequate words to describe it fully so I'll have to rely on just "I love you." Those 3 words have all the meaning in the world. They come from the very bottom of my heart.
