We left the evening of the 7th in boxcars. We got ours fixed up pretty good cuz we had a buddy bring our mattresses to the train in his truck. That really helped. We also managed to get that portable radio on the car so we got to listen to the "World Series" and etc. Wasn't much doing on the way. It wasn't too cold through the day and we stayed warm enough in bed at night. Mostly we just watched the scenery or maybe played cards. We were four days getting to Rosenheim, Germany. We arrived one night and we thought we were leaving the next day, but we didn't. We just messed around there for there was no work for us. We left the next morning on our usual boxcar.
