Sept 14, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hi darling! Another evening and another letter coming up. I missed last night, but I'll tell you about that. Last time I wrote I was going to have to get up at 3:30 for guard. I did and got off at 8:00 in the A.M. Came in and ate breakfast then did a few odd jobs. Pressed some clothes, shined my shoes etc. Then a kid came up and wanted me to go to town with him. Before we got gone another fellow joined us. Went to Marseille and got there about 2:30. No more than got off the truck than we ran onto
