July 31, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, I thought I'd never get started on your letter. One of the guys keeps bringing up a subject and then one heck of an argument starts. We've discussed everything from post war homes to the war situation and they are still at it. Golly honey, July is gone already. Another month and the kids will start back to school. It just doesn't seem possible. This makes the third fall I've missed starting to school. It is already 9:30 and I'm just getting settled down. What a mad house this has been today. We've even been taking exercises in here. Got to keep out tummy down and this waiting around doesn't help any.
