August 10, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya honey. Just got back from taking a shower and thought I'd better get you written before you disown me. Lord but that water was cold. One of those open air jobs is no good in a cold wind. Went to the medics yesterday and got my ankle fixed up. They have me all taped up like I'd just finished a football game. Been a long time since I'd had an ankle taped. It is still stiff and sore, but I can get around ok with it. Didn't get to bed last night until 4:30 due to guard duty. Had to get up at 9:00 to take some shots. All I got was another smallpox vacination.
