Aug 12, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, I'm in my favorite place at present trying to write. You guessed it, I'm in bed. Just too lazy to get up. Anyway there is nothing to do if I did get up so why waste all that energy. I guess its really not that bad, honey. Was on guard until midnight last night. Wouldn't have been so bad if the mosquitoes hadn't tried to carry me away. Lord, but they must have been hungry. Darling, I got one letter from you this morning. That was all the mail there was.
