Aug 13, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Well honey, its all over finally. Darned if I can get very excited for it won't be over for me until I get out of the army. All we can hear over the radio is how people all over the world are celebrating. Personally, I haven't even shook hands with anyone. In fact, I have seen not one sign of anyone at all celebrating here. Seems funny that everyone is celebrating, but servicemen. Maybe it it is different in the States. At least the guys are safe and that is enough for the families to celebrate. Darling, there is just one thing on my mind now. That is getting home to you. Lord only knows when that will be.
