Aug 28, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya honey! Here goes again with a few lines of something or other. I'm getting an early start on your letter today. Yep, I just finished dinner. Had roast beef and boy do I like that. After I wrote you last evening another kid and I went to a movie. We figured there was no need going to bed since we had to go on guard at midnight. The movie was "Objective Burma" with Errol Flynn. Pretty good for the type of p [paper missing] Came back and went on gua [paper missing] afterwards. I had an awful time trying to stay awake, but 4:00 finally came and I came in and tumbled into bed. Slept like a log until 10:00 and then they brought the mail. Yes honey, I had a letter from you
