Jan 27, 1945 France Dearest Evelyn, Don't think me crazy if I tell you I'm writing this at 4:00 A.M. I just got off guard and I didn't feel too sleepy so I thought I'd put the time to good use. Nothing much going on except an occasional boom from a big gun. Got two letters from you yesterday. They were written a month apart. Don't know why the one was so slow. Got two letters from dad this week written the first part of Nov. Thats pretty poor. The weather is really a killer. One minute the sun is shining and the next it is snowing. You know that list of hit songs you sent? I never heard half of them. I'd give alot to hear some good music again. Got a couple boxes of cookies the other
