40 1 the employment of individuals of a particular religion to 2 perform work connected with the carruing on by such co- 3 poration, association, or society of its religious activities or to 4 ab educational institution with respect to the employment of 5 individuals to perform work connected with the educational 6 activities of such institution. 7 DISCRIMINATION BECAUSE OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX 8 OR NATIONAL ORIGIN 9 Sec. 703. (a) It shall be an unlawful employment 10 practice for an employer - 11 (1) to fail or refuse ti hire or to discharge any 12 individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any 13 individual with respect to his compensation, terms, con- 14 ditions, or privileges of employment, because of such 15 individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin; 16 or 17 (2) to limit, segregate, or classify his employees in 18 any way which would deprive or tend to deprive any 19 individual of employment opportunities or otherwise 20 adversely affect his status as an employee, because of 21 such individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national 22 origin. 23 (b) It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an 24 employment agency to fail or refuse to refer for employment, 25 or otherwise to discriminate against, any individual because
