- 3 - Mr. Gilmour reported that a questionnaire on the number of racial minorities had been sent to 40 state agencies. As of this meeting, 32 agencies have responded. Chairman Boles will send a letter to other state agencies who are not responsible directly to the Governor. Mr. Gilmour and his committee will draft and send to select counties and municipalities a letter requesting a racial breakdown of their employees (negro and other non-white persons.) Mrs. McLain informed the Executive Committee that a special committee headed by Mrs. Eleanora Miller is working on the proposed Iowa conference or conferences on Human Rights to be held in Iowa in the near future. At the present the committee has not finalized its recommendations. Bills from the Anti-defamation League of B'Nai B'Rith and Des Moines Rubber Stamp Company were allowed ($5.10 and $5.90; total $11.00.) A summary of complaint progress was made by Chairman Boles and Ernest Russell. Complaint matters will be brought to the attention of the full Commission at its next meeting. Ernest Russell was asked to bring model state laws in employment and public accommodations to the next Commission meeting. The next meeting of the full Commission is set for September 29, 1964, at 1:30 p.m. Place: Room 22 of the Statehouse in Des Moines. Respectfully submitted, Ernest Russell, Secretary-Treasurer, Governor's Commission on Human Rights
