-2- - Dialogue is fine, but need to consider obaining access to power roles (like City Council). - Go to groups and talk: civic groups, service clubs like Rotary, police and sheriff's associations, Chamber of Commerce, Citizen's Committee for a Better Iowa City, etc. - Use the media: WMT TV program Sundays at 10:30 p.m., KXIC Council Forums on Sunday afternoons, Dotte Ray Show, KICR in residence halls, Daily Iowan. The following were then suggested as a brief summary of basic ideas and issues we need to work at: - Education - dialogue - media - town meeting. - Prepare for "unrest" events that might occur next spring - monitors (more than students) - Voter registration for young vote. - Get good candidates for City Council, Board of Supervisors, etc. - Need new sense of awareness - break out of trap - perhaps use drama (Bunuel's "The Exterminating Angel" - use street theater) - Seek to establish a city Social Concerns Committee.
