Clinton, Iowa City PROGRAM: A Workshop, led by Barbara Madden' & friends of Des Moines. Barbara is the State Chairman of IMCA. Areas to be covered: speaker training, finances, scheduling, public relations, latest data from the legal scene. Present: Our guest leaders, Ms. Barbara Madden, Chm., State IMCA, Des Moines Ms. Marie Wilson, Vice Chmn. " " Others were the persons below, who signed to help on specific committees. Convenor for Iowa City: Jane Simpson (add. & tel: see above.) Program: Orientation to IMCA by Barbara Madden (Flyer, IMCA, enclosed) IMCA is a state-wide organization of persons concerned to get the Iowa law changed from the present restrictive law re. abortion to one like NY. IMCA is now incorporated, with a State Board of Directors. IMCA is now organizing regional chapters to do the actual work throughout the state. These chapters will be determined by the new Leg. Districts. These are operative Chapters in the Cedar Rapids and Davenport areas. New Info: IOWA CITY CHAPTER COVERS THESE NEW LEG. DISTRICTS: Representative Districts: No 72, 95 Senatorial Dist: No. 37, 1/2 of 36, 1/2 of 48 This is a rough division of this geographical area covering Iowa Co., north w. part of Wash. Co., nw corner Muscatine Co., and S. 1/2 of Johnson Co. (Yeah--confusing, but we'll try to have maps) Local Chapter Objectives (suggestive, not definitive nor restrictive): Education in local areas: speakers, panels, literature, etc. Liaison via State IMCA: info. from State, Nat. scene distributed via Local Chapters. Local Chapters will raise own funds: cir $200 would be ok for year. Some lobbying with local legislators, plus some at State, as requested.
