[advertisement] Coming Thursday Night The First of Three Public Forums on " The Eco-nomics of Ecology in Iowa City" This week: "Transportation" Phillips Hall Auditorium 7:30 - 9:00 p.m Sponsors: Ass'n of Campus Ministers, Special Lectures Committee PRESS CITIZEN, IOWA CITY, SEPT 27, 19 1971 Public Forums on Local Environmental Issues Set Three public forums on environmental issues in Iowa City will begin Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Hall Auditorium. The series is called "The Economics of Ecology in Iowa City" The first forum will explore issues in transportation. Two speakers are scheduled to present alternative views concerning use and parking of automobiles, mass transit systems, and related questions. They are George W. Brown, active in Citizens for Environmental Action, and Dennis R. Kraft, director of Community Development for Iowa City. Following initial presentations, there will be a period for questions and comments from the audience. The final part of each program will be an analysis of what basic values underly the positions which have been presented. Two analysts will be used throughout the series. They are Prof. Robert Scharlemann of the School of Religion, and Thomas L. Mikelson, minister of the Unitarian - Universalist Society. Future Dates, topics and speakers are: Oct 7: "Land Use", with Prof. James Harris, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Iowa, and Ben E. Summerwill, president, Iowa State Bank and trust Co. Oct. 13, "Energy and Growth", with Prof. William Albrecht, Dept. of Economics, and a representative of the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co Arrangements have been made by the Special Lectures Committee of the University of Iowa Association of Campus Ministers.
