Attention: Campus Ministers Community Pastors Re: Summer Service Opportunities 1971 Central File Please Publicize through Church Bulletins NOW and second semester (Jan, Feb, March). Also Posters and Newsletters would be a helpful publicity medium. A central summer service file of summer service opportunities has been organized through the Association of Campus Ministers (ACM) and the University Volunteer Service Bureau (UVSB). The file is located in the Student Activities Center of the Iowa Memorial Union at the U.V.S.B. office. A duplicate file is available at the Wesley House. The file includes summer opportunities for voluntary and remunerative employment serving people. both in the U.S.A. and abroad. Deadline for application for most projects is March 15 but some declines are as early as January 31. Opportunities are available for married as well as for single students. Students who would like to help the SSO-71 Committee promote summer service should contact Cathi Head, chm. at 351-7414 or call the Wesley House at 338-1179 FROM THE CENTRAL FILE One project which may be of special interest to Christian students is the Christian Neighborhood Summer Program. This summer program is supported by fifteen congregations of five denominations in diverse inner city neighborhoods of Hudson County, New Jersey. The program served over 1400 children between the ages of 5 and 13 last year through a 5 day week day-camps in the inner city. It is in its 14th year of operation. Room, board and transportation is provided for volunteers. Two representatives of the CNSP will be in Iowa City on Monday, February 1, 1971 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to make a presentation and to conduct interviews. Five students from the University of Iowa participated in the program. They are: Diane Baker, Susan Eaton, Teresa Lewis, Sally Meeks and Cathi Head.
