PSFS News Page 20 MILTON A. ROTHMAN Milt has spent over half of his life as a s-f fan, having just past his 19th birthday, and having started reading stf when he was 9, with the old Science Wonder. One thing led to another, and almost before he knew it he had embarked upon a life career[[?]] in science, XXXXXXX decided mainly by the receipt of a one year scholarship to the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences. He studied chemistry there for two years, but they wouldn't give him any more scholarships, so he quit. He expects to return as soon as he gathers together enough greenbacks. He didn't become an active fan until after meeting Raymond Peel Mariella, who[[crossed out "m"]]some will remember, a little before the Science Fiction League was formed. The latter really threw him into activity, with the start of the PSFL, carrying on of correspondents, etc. After a short time, he and Mariella decided it would be wise[[?]] to combine their collections, as it would be less expensive to keep up. This was done, and later, when Mariella dropped out of science fiction, Rothman took the entire thing at his house, and a nice collection it is, too. It embodies about 30 books, complete sets of the big 3 (almost), various argosies, Electrical Experimenters, and sundries. He bemoans the fact that science fiction has become devoid of talk concerning this side of collecting and has concentrated on fan magazines alone. The thrill of seeing a rare Amazing in a book store has passed.
